Episode notes

Welcome to HOOVERING, the podcast about eating. Host, Jessica Fostekew (Guilty Feminist, Motherland) has a frank conversation with an interesting person about gobbling; guzzling; nibbling; scoffing; devouring and wolfing all up… or if you will, hoovering. In this episode I’m talking to fellow comedian, Mum and Dad-misser, Esther Manito. Learn what a ‘Del Boy Dinner’ is and witness some shared parenting pain. Also - her weekend BBQ action sounds fiiiiiiiiit.  Everything written below in CAPITALS is a link to the relevant webpage.  Honourable Mentions Get on Instagram and follow ESTHER MANITO up immediately. She’s doing some well funny alternative pictionary on there please.  My overly fancy but delicious BLUEBERRY AND CREME FRESH CUPCAKES were from Dan Lepord’s faultless ‘Short and Sweet’  I’m doing liquid hoovering LIVES over on INSTAGRAM every week with former guests - make sure you’re following the INSTAGRAM and TWITTER for @thehooveringpod to be sure not to miss one. They stay in my Insta stories for 24 hours after they’re up as well. These aren’t every week, as I’ve learnt the hard way that they’re slightly reliant on my kid not being in the midst of a huge emotional rollercoaster - and I had to no-show to the last one so they’ll be occasionally on hiatus every now and again until evenings get more predictable at home.  My live stuff is obviously all on hold but I’m in two series on telly at the moment, THE TROUBLE WITH MAGGIE COLE on ITV Hub and TRIGONOMETRY on the BBC iplayer. And I was on NEWS QUIZ on radio 4 which is on BBC Sounds right now.  If you have any spare dollar in your life the first thing I’d like you to do with it is give it to either a food bank like the TRUSSELL TRUST. If after giving to them you’ve still got more spare dosh to give a month I’m on this great site called PATREON where I swap your money for ace podcast related stuff like totally exclusive content and guest recipes. It’ll help me keep the podcast not just alive, but also thriving. Thanks so so so much if you’ve become a patron recently and/ or stuck with me since the beginning of this.  This of course is the mighty FRIDA KAHLO The things me and Esther’s Mum don’t know enough about are TIK TOK, TWITCH and A KARDASHIAN Oh oh oh HERE IS A LINK to the fierce crispy pasta recipe I made courtesy of the brilliant Rukmini Iyer  If you don’t know Nando’s this is NANDO’S, rest in peace, for now I think this is the Korean cooking lady MAANGCHI Esther’s smallest queues and my biggest are at the supermarket ALDI The Lebanese food I’ve eaten has been from the chain COMPTOIRE LIBANAISE or the far superior Catford intuition FAYROOZ.  And finally Esthers hangover cure is a mixture of THAI SWEET CHILLI SENSATIONS and REAL HOUSEWIVES.
