The past meets the present in part three of our deep dive into Steve McClaren's tenure as England manager.

With the doors of new Wembley finally opening, Steve has the opportunity to take bold symbolic steps forward after a disappointing start to his time in the hot seat.

However, this was not meant to be. With friendlies against international heavyweights such as Brazil and Germany to think about, plus Euro 2008 qualification, our man decides to rummage around in the bargain bin of years gone by, calling on a HUGE variety of players to try and dig the Three Lions out of their hole.

Will this clash of eras be seen as a stroke of genius, or an ill-fated error that pushes McClaren towards the exit?
