The tournament born from the ashes of a century of Home Nations ties lasts less than half a decade, taking many strange turns along the way.

This episode looks at the final three years of Rous history and pontificates on the question: just what in the hell were England up to?

Not content with an annual slugfest against Scotland, the FA looks to South America to bring some glamour to the tournament in the hope of elongating this sorry mess.
