Episode notes

Arthur is joined by filmmaker, and die-hard Islanders fan, Tyler Gildin to discuss his documentary “The Starfish”, the true story of his grandfather, Herb Gildin, who at 10 years old, along with his two older sisters, went to live with non-Jewish families in Sweden to escape Nazi persecution, eventually reuniting with his parents in the United States. Plus, Tyler discusses his Islanders fandom, including some of his favorite memories of the team, wearing Isles garb on set, and more.

First, Arthur talks about the breaking Bloomberg news that Mikhail Prokhorov’s Onexim Sports and Entertainment, which operates Nassau Coliseum under a lease from Nassau County, plans to shutter the arena indefinitely while it seeks new investors to assume the remaining debt, and how this could impact the team’s plans to play their home games on Long Island next season.
