Speak Up Kōrerotia
Speak Up Kōrerotia - Language learning in Aotearoa
Episode notes
Increasingly fewer people are learning a foreign language at primary, secondary or tertiary levels in Aotearoa New Zealand, with consequences for both individual identity and NZ's place in the world. With the Year 0 to 10 Draft Curriculum open for consultation until 24 April, guests Stephanie Mortimore (Language Circle), Fesaitu Solomone and Lynn Lolokini Pavihi (Centre for Pacific Languages) and Stephen Epstein (Victoria University Wellington) discuss the benefits of language learning and the importance of making language learning a compulsory part of the Curriculum alongside the other subjects areas.
