Steve interviews Jeff Passan (00:07:20) from ESPN. Jeff is driving from one spring training location to another and has plenty of time to chat with Steve about their long history, going to the Super Bowl, nonsense, and of course, baseball. Jeff talks about going to the Super Bowl with his son, explains how being Jeff Passan was crucial to the experience, and details the drama of the final seconds of overtime. Jeff also talks about the Atlanta Braves, the current playoff format, Shohei Ohtani, and looks ahead to the 2024 Major League Baseball season. Also, Scott Howard-Cooper debuts (01:03:12) to preview his book about the great UCLA basketball teams of the 1960's and 70's. Scott explains how a USC alum came to write a book about UCLA. Scott also explains how he combines history, politics, and sports without the book never really being about any of those things. Scott talks about Coach Wooden, Kareem, Walton and explains why each character was vital to the success of UCLA basketball. Steve starts the show with First Things First and explains how a mistake by his wife nearly led him to missing his chance to have Jeff Passan on the show. The book club has a new book to announce. The show ends with one last thing about Patrick Kane and his return to Chicago. For more information follow the podcast on twitter @sports_casters Email: [email protected]
