Thought and Leaders
Beverley Brooks - giving ex-offenders a second chance. Thought and Leaders podcast
Episode notes
Beverley Brooks launched the first recruitment agency in Newcastle for people with convictions.
The Recruitment Junction is a not-for-profit enterprise with a social heart, on a commercial mission. It helps people with convictions re-discover purpose through work and by becoming role models who drive positive generational impact.
The Recruitment Junction tackles skills shortages for employers across the northeast of England. In doing so, it combats persistent regional unemployment and contributes to a national reduction in re-offending, as the economy gets moving again.
The Recruitment Junction’s vision is to see people with convictions:
Re-discover a sense of purpose through work.
Become role models who drive positive generational impact across their families.
Our vision is for employers to:
- See their skills shortages met through our resourceful, resilient workers
- The Recruitment Junction’s vision in the North East is to:
- Push back on persistent regional unemployment.
- Play its part in getting the economy moving again.
In this special episode of Thought and Leaders, Beverley and one of the many people she has helped talks to Jonathan Gabay about life inside prison and prospects within communities.
