To quote Steve Crowe from his appearance on the podcast just a couple of weeks ago: "There is no 1997 victory without Leo Dynevor".

The 75 kilogram Queenslander five-eighth started his career with the London Broncos and signed with Newcastle as a halfback in 1997 in the shadow of the club's most famous halfback Andrew Johns.

Dynevor played just 19 games with the Newcastle Knights, but his performance stepping into Johns' boots when the star was out injured in that crucial year, arguably led the club to its appearance in the 1997 ARL grand final - a grand final that Dynevor learned the day of the kick off that he would not be appearing in.

Leo Dynevor's story with the Newcastle Knights is one of working outside of the spotlight. And he joins host Barry Toohey in episode 28 to look back on his career, on the eve of his return to the Hunter, after a long absence, to take up work at the University of Newcastle.
