Episode notes

Welcome to the Wanna Be podcast where you can get a behind the scenes look at the opportunities available in the creative and entertainment industries so you can get to where you wanna be 30 minutes or less. I am of course your host, Imriel Morgan.

This is a special Black History Month mini-series that we’ve put together for you. I would like to give a huge thank you to the Social Mobility Commission who have helped us pull this miniseries together and allowed us to use their research and reports to help inform us of the issues around education, achievement and attainment. With this in mind Content is Queen is proud to present you with the Black Kings this season.

Our first guest is truly exceptional and I’m so excited to have him on the podcast. Magid Magid also known as Magic Magid. If you know you know. Magid is a Somali-British justice activist, author and a former elected politician. He was a Green Party MEP representing Yorkshire & the Humber at the European Parliament and was previously the youngest ever Lord Mayor of his beloved city, Sheffield. Magid was recently named one of TIME’s 100 rising stars shaping the future of the world. Magid is also the author of the recently released ‘The Art of Disruption’ -A Manifesto for Real Change.

In this episode we discuss the importance of focusing, curiosity and having audacity. Magid also shares how he got into campaigning and politics and why he questions everything. Magid shares one thing he’s always done to keep his mind sharp! And we also explore the role travel and culture has had on his life. Get ready for the lols.

What an inspiration! I had so much fun talking to Magid, he’s an absolute diamond and I highly recommend you follow him and his work on social media @MagicMagid. Also make sure you support this Black King buy getting a copy of his book ‘The Art of Disruption: A Manifesto For Real Change’
