We Are West Ham Podcast

263. We've put our own hurdles in our own way

Episode notes

After losing 2-0 to both Bayer Leverkusen and Fulham over the last few days, West Ham's chances of competing in Europe for a fourth consecutive season are hanging by a thread.

We have a mountain to climb in the second-leg vs. the newly crowned Bundesliga champions and failure to beat Fulham at home means we're now reliant on the likes of Newcastle, Man United and Chelsea all slipping up in the race for a top-seven finish. If they don't it'll likely be a 9th placed finish and the end of our love affair with European competition.

But what has led to this after such a strong start to the season? It's a very similar situation to two years ago when a failure to invest in January led to the team running out of steam. It appears David Moyes and the club haven't learned their lesson, with a lack of options on the bench in recent weeks appearing to cost us.

And what does this all mean for David Moyes' future? It's hard to see how he remains in the job beyond the summer.

We discuss all of the above and more this week, with Leverkusen and Crystal Palace opposition views coming later this week.

As always, thanks for listening!
